Why spiritual alignment matters in business & how to be spiritually aligned

Because the term ‘spiritual alignment’ is often perceived as vague and ambiguous, it tends to be overlooked by traditional business practices. In these masculine-driven, metric-centric paradigms, only tangible aspects of a business (such as, financial outcomes) are prioritized.

However, being in spiritual alignment holds profound significance, especially for feminine beings in business who are attuned to their intuitive feeling and awareness. This is because the feminine intuition is able to sense deeper layers that weave the entrepreneurial journey– a gentle but essential guide for those who can sense the subtleties and the depths of a business.

I learned what it is to be out of spiritual alignment myself when even as a spiritual business owner, my business was not aligned. Back then, my business was well on the path of financial growth, however, I felt that something was still off. A part of me felt icky and dissatisfied but I did not know why…

Turns out, it was because my business was growing out of spiritual alignment. From that experience, I learned that being in spiritual alignment is almost like the make or break of a business in the long run.

So in this post, I want to share what being in spiritual alignment means, with consequences of being in alignment vs being off alignment so that you can recognize where you business stands. And if you find your business veering away from the path, I will then share how you can tune yourself into deeper alignment more than ever in your business.

What spiritual alignment is

To understand what spiritual alignment is, you can think of building your business like it’s a road.

When the road that you are building (i.e. the business you are building in this lifetime) merges in unison with a higher road like a highway (i.e. your bigger soul mission), the traffic is smooth and cohesive.

However, when the road (the business) that you are building is in opposition to your soul mission, there is friction, resistance, and discord.

What that means is that building a business goes deeper than finding the fastest way of producing monetary/ tangible metrics. There is an element of soulful resonance, a harmonious blend of passion and purpose that transcends mere material success.

Signs of spiritual alignment vs. being out of alignment

So what happens when your business is out of spiritual alignment? You may be wondering…

From my own experience, as well as with clients I have supported, I have learned that spiritual alignment makes a profound difference in not just the short-term fulfillment but also the long term impact and sustainability of a business.

For it is the difference between making a tonne of money but feeling heavy and met with resistance on the path vs. growing a business in a way that is easeful, natural, and true to you.

It is the difference between blindly adopting any ‘shiny’ business strategy under the sun– anything that promises quick financial gains vs. staying true to a path that resonates with your unique brand mission.

It is the difference between constantly needing immediate external validation to validate your worth/ your business’s worth vs planting ‘seeds’ (like providing valuable content) in a business with a grand vision for years, or even decades to come.

Essentially, the difference comes down to how your business is run. And because the way we cultivate and expand our business is what either nourishes or depletes our hearts, it influences the consistency, the authenticity, the enduring presence of how we show up in business.

As feminine beings, what that means is that when we are out of spiritual alignment, we begin to easily feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and burnt out in business.

Because the prime motivation in a business is only the numerical outcomes, we become disconnected to the higher source of energy from our hearts that moves us. Thus, it requires an arduous amount of brute-force and willpower to show up in business, let alone grow.

On the other hand, when we are spiritually aligned, the desire of showing up in business comes from the natural desire for the love of the process itself within us. Therefore, whether the process of a business is writing content for marketing or creating offers for clients, all is infused in love, generosity, and joy.

And as you can guess, business growth naturally happens, just like how flowers bloom effortlessly when touched by the gentle caress of the sun.

In nature, the blossoming of flowers doesn't require force; in fact, the flowers wilt when there is intense sunlight. Rather the blossoms responds to the gentle infusion of nourishment from the environment

Similarly, when our business is run from pressure and force, it leads to stalling long-term growth. However, when our business is rooted in spiritual alignment, growth becomes an unforced, organic process, unfolding with grace and ease just as how petals unfurl in the tender embrace of the light from your soul.

Keystones for spiritual alignment in business

To align the road we are building (i.e. our business), to the higher road (i.e. our soul mission), I’ve learned that 3 aspects of business are central to experiencing blissful spiritual alignment.

1. Solving problems that match your higher purpose

As business owners, especially as coaches/ service providers, what we are doing is essentially offering solutions to problems that our clients & customers face.

And when the problems we solve are what our hearts genuinely want to offer to the world (aka we believe deep down of its impact so much), we become moved by our hearts/ Spirit that is greater than just ourselves.

This is what creates ease and wholeness in business, because now we are not just thinking about how to make the sales and maximize profits, but instead we are wholeheartedly obsessed with the solutions we provide

And it is what makes the process of growing a business an authentic, soul-stirring journey of transformation to not just our customers but also ourselves

Honestly, this is how I now feel around helping women in business with bringing their most authentic, impactful creative visions to life.

Before, I did not experience that authentic aliveness in my business which was focused on helping women ‘manifest their income desires’ (aka my previous niche) because I was not acting on my higher purpose but instead was marketing based on what I unconsciously thought would lead me to success– from looking at other entrepreneurs creating success from being in that niche.

Only when I shifted my business to be what matched my higher soul purpose (i.e. to be a creative fairy who helps other fairies bring their creative visions:) ), my business became a full cup that fills me up everyday

A few questions you can contemplate upon for channeling your higher purpose are:

  • What is the form of suffering that most saddens your heart when you see your people there? And what is your message/solution to relieve it?

  • Reflect back on the times when you were at your lowest point in life. What is the solution you would like to offer to that version of self?

Once you identify that core problem that your soul is most excited to solve with the magic solution you provide, you are sourcing the energy of your business from the heart, rather than the mind which is creating ease in business– that is, spiritual alignment.

2. Acting on values that are most true to you

Your soul has a unique set of values that are most authentic and meaningful to you.

When we abide by them, we feel peace and sustenance within our lives (in this case, our business).

And when we deviate from them, we experience discomfort, a disquiet that ripples through the core of our beings which signals misalignment with our true selves.

In my case, when I deviated from one of my core values (i.e. authenticity) and was trying to sound like a “luxury” coach with a perfect image of my life on social media, I felt myself being disconnected to my true self, with no genuine heart-felt connection to the women I was serving.

Rather, it felt like clients were coming because they pedestalized me rather than a human-to-human, heart-to-heart connection. And overtime, it led me to overwhelm, burnout, and a loss of passion in my work.

From that experience, I learned how important it is to be true to our true values. Because when we are chasing merely for ‘success’, like how a lot of people do, we lose the connection to the things that matter most to us– i.e. our values + desires that stem from our values.

As feminine beings, growing a business that stems from our values is what fulfills our hearts. Only then, business becomes a vessel with sincere soulful interactions with space to revel in the sacred.

If you are wanting to find whether your business is spiritually aligned with your values, here is a practice you can do:

- Write down a few set of words that you desire to experience as you grow your business. (e.g. cozy, comfort, nourish, pure etc.-- whatever that brings you the most bliss to you)

As you breathe deeply into your belly, imagine yourself inhaling each word (one value at a time) and with every breath, imagine your body being filled with a color of that word. Notice the changes of sensations in your body upon sinking into how each value feels.

Then ask as you speak it out loud: does (a specific) business strategy bring out that value? If it is a yes, you will feel something like a bliss chill, denoting that you are in spiritual alignment. If it is a no, you will feel a contraction and a diminishing of the color/ the feel-good sensations that the value brings.

3. Speaking only to people who align with your values

No matter how good you offers/your gifts are, when the people you are speaking to do not align with your values, sales and marketing will come from a place of pressure and force

That means, it will feel like you have to convince, pressure, or overhype in your messaging/marketing in order to make people buy.

It will feel like you have to filter yourself, in order to own your “authority”; it will feel like you have to speak like someone else who makes more money than you in order to get people come into your offers

I remember all that pressure myself in the past– there were times when I felt like I had to put a perfect image on social media, like I was an influencer who lives a Insta-worthy life in order to make people interested in ‘being in my energy’ and receive my work

There were also times I felt like I had to speak bolder/louder than how I actually write/speak naturally in order to hook people’s short-attention span on social media

And now, I see how energy-depleting all that was…. And how hard it has been on my soul…
All of that forcing/ filtering/ convincing,

because I was trying to appeal to the bigger market, rather than speaking specifically to only those who have similar values as my soul
– like women who have deeper desires for peace and fulfilling, rather than forsaking them by chasing success;
Like women who desire softness as they unfold their uniqueness, rather than trying to match up to others in the hardened world of business

From that experience, what I’ve learned is that, defining your target audience only based on their demographics, their occupation, their desires is not enough.

You have to dig deeper than their surface-level desires; that means their inner longings, their values, their heart-felt experiences – all of which has to be a match to your own beliefs and values.

Only then, will marketing feel more nourishing and natural to you.

As you express your truths in ways that enhance genuine connections, soulful transformations, and a deep sense of fulfillment for both you and your clients… creating sturdy foundations so that your spiritually aligned business thrives financially and soulfully long-term.
