How to experience true freedom

When you’re craving more happiness and fulfillment in your life, what you’re truly searching for is freedom.

Freedom is one of life’s essential elements for a truly fulfilling existence, right alongside connection, peace, and purpose. If you want to feel deeply happy and fulfilled, you have to allow yourself to experience freedom. And that doesn’t just mean financial freedom or the flexibility to work from anywhere—though, of course, those are part of it.

Most conversations today about freedom are focused on these physical forms, especially on social media, where financial and location freedom are idolized. But if you’re listening to this podcast, you likely want something deeper. You want a kind of freedom that goes beyond money or movement—a freedom that resonates in your very being.

True freedom is beyond what you see on the surface. It’s a state of mind and heart that feels joyful, at peace, and deeply satisfied simply in the experience of living. Today, I’m sharing my personal journey to discovering this inner freedom and how you can experience it for yourself.

Hello, my loves! Welcome to the Creative Mystic Fairy Podcast, a healing sanctuary for sensitive, high-achieving women seeking true fulfillment by finding heaven within. In this episode, I want to dive into a kind of freedom that’s not just desirable but essential if you want to feel deeply content and at peace in your life.

It’s important to understand that freedom isn’t something waiting at the end of a long road. Often, we look up to people who seem to have “made it”—those who talk about financial freedom, dream locations, and seemingly unlimited choices—and we think, “One day, if I work hard enough, I’ll be free too.” But what happens when we think of freedom as some distant finish line is that we begin living in self-imposed restrictions, chaining ourselves to the idea that freedom is something we’ll only reach once we check every box.

Instead, there’s a freedom that’s available to you right now—a freedom to be as you are, to express yourself, to create, and to experience life fully, without waiting. I experienced this myself just recently. As I was preparing for this episode, I found myself getting frustrated, worrying about saying things “perfectly.” My mind kept pulling me back with judgments about how each line should sound. I noticed how I felt restricted, even though I was here to share freely. This tiny moment showed me how easy it is to fall into self-imposed constraints.

This experience reminded me of the many ways we unknowingly hold ourselves back from the freedom we seek. We think it’s out of reach or reserved only for those who “have it all,” but in reality, it’s our mindset and our mental judgments that create the real cage.

So, let’s break down the keys to experiencing true freedom.

  • Release the idea that freedom is only for the elite. We often idolize the concept of financial or location freedom, believing it’s only attainable once we reach a certain milestone. But this belief keeps us longing and waiting instead of embracing the freedom within our reach today.

  • Recognize the mind as the source of restriction. The mind can be our biggest barrier to freedom, constantly analyzing, judging, and limiting us. True freedom begins by recognizing and quieting this voice so that we can act without its confines.

  • Notice how your body responds to true freedom. When we feel restricted, it’s as if our spirit is constricted, held in tension. But when you allow yourself to be free, you can actually feel it in your body—an expansion, lightness, and a sense of ease that you carry in each moment.

  • Go beyond physical freedom. Money, luxury, and physical freedom can feel good, but they don’t provide lasting peace. Many people fill their lives with things, hoping to capture a sense of freedom, yet they still feel empty because the soul’s true longing goes much deeper.

When you look for freedom outside yourself, you end up chasing an illusion. Material things might offer a temporary high, but they can’t touch the freedom that lies within. Many people who have everything they need financially or have traveled the world still feel the same inner emptiness. That’s because true freedom isn’t about collecting experiences or things; it’s about living in alignment with your true self and letting go of the mental “shoulds” and “have-tos.”

Let’s talk about how to access this inner freedom:

  1. Recognize what you’re truly longing for. Often, feelings of emptiness or dissatisfaction stem from a longing for inner freedom. Knowing what you’re actually seeking—peace, ease, self-expression—brings you one step closer.

  2. Realize the power isn’t outside of you. While money, job titles, or experiences might seem to hold the key, freedom is a state within you. Embrace the notion that the external world isn’t what truly dictates your freedom—your mindset does.

  3. Embrace the present moment. True freedom is only ever found right here, in the now. When you stop looking forward to an elusive goal, you free yourself to enjoy life as it unfolds, savoring each moment for what it is.

So, if you’re striving for a life that feels expansive, joyful, and genuinely free, know that this kind of freedom is within you. The moment you choose to be free, right here and now, you’ll realize you already have everything you need to experience the fulfillment you seek.

This journey to freedom isn’t about rejecting ambition or living without goals, but about creating a life where your freedom isn’t dependent on external factors. It’s the freedom to experience each moment fully, love who you are, and live without the limits imposed by the mind. True freedom is not a destination; it’s a state of being that you can choose at any moment.
